We are so excited to share that Esty Stein has joined our team as a Certified Nurse Midwife! Esty (she/her/they/them) completed her Masters of Nursing in Midwifery at SUNY Downstate. Before becoming a midwife in 2020, she worked at Lenox Hill Hospital as a maternal child care nurse, providing postpartum care to birthing people and their newborns after completing her nursing degree at NYU.
More about Esty:
“Hello! I have lived in Oregon since 2021, but I am originally from New York City. I got my Masters of Science in Nursing from SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University. I live with my partner, Zeph, our son, Cillian, and a group of medically complex animals including Kyla Ren – a rescue dog; Bucky Barnes – a foster fail English lab; and Chopper – a Holland Lop bunny rescue that we found on street in Eugene. I started at Our Community Birth Center in 2025.”
“My favorite thing about being a midwife is meeting people where they are. I believe in centering patients and providing trauma-based health care to help create a calm, supportive, and trusting relationship. In the future I would like to obtain my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant) and menopause certification. If I wasn’t a midwife, I would want to be a buyer of fun/weird things that others would sell at vintage stores.”
