Congratulations to our newest midwife Vivianne on passing her board exam last month to officially become a Certified Nurse Midwife! Vivianne had to obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing, a doctoral degree in nurse midwifery, and then pass a comprehensive midwifery certification exam to reach this point. Now we are just waiting on her license to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife/Nurse Practitioner in Oregon and then she will get to start catching babies and offering clinic appointments at Our Community Birth Center in November.

More about Vivianne:

Vivianne has been serving as a birth worker since 2011 after becoming a doula for her sister and finding her true calling. With an educational background rooted strongly in equity, social justice, visual culture, and anthropologic awareness, Vivianne brings a passion for curiosity about the world and a deep respect for honoring the journeys of pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and everyday health. Vivianne’s goals include proactive civic engagement for equitable access to quality midwifery care and providing a welcoming and compassionate environment for anyone seeking our services. She is also excited to help expand services to our Spanish-speaking communities. She is a graduate of Seattle University where she studied nurse midwifery and received a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, Boise State University where she studied art history, and SUNY Buffalo where she studied nonprofit management. In her free time, Vivianne loves exploring the outdoors, road-tripping, discovering new recipes, and spoiling her nieces and nephews. Se habla español.
